The joy of music comes from sharing, but the toil and tears of the musicians are probably unknown to many.

Chen Sa was born into a musical family in Chongqing, Sichuan Province. Since the age of nine, she had to take the overnight train between Chongqing and Chengdu every weekend to study under the tutelage of her teacher Dan Zhaoyi. Sometimes she even had to sleep on the compartment floor of the train. This is just one of the many toils she endured during her formative years.

In the 14th International Chopin Piano Competition, Chen Sa won the 4th place and shared the Best Polonaise Performance Award with first prizewinner Li Yundi. Embracing numerous grand international awards, Chen Sa has stepped onto the stage of classical music and started giving performances around the world. Virtuoso Chinese pianist Fou Ts'ong commented that Chen Sa, Li Yundi and Lang Lang, were China’s three shining stars on the piano.
