Hong Kong Connection
監製 Executive Producer: Hermia LEUNG

If “ Hong Kong Connection ” were a tree, how old would it be? It was on 5 March, 1978 that the documentary series first went on the air in Chinese, and by June 2002, after a quarter of a century, 1000 episodes had been produced and broadcast.

As the series continues, its staff are determined to go on uncovering and delving into every local and international topic that concerns the people in Hong Kong, whether it be political, economic, educational, commercial, environmental or technological.

A tree plays an important environmental role in refreshing the air that we breathe and holding from the earth on which we stand. It is Hong Kong Connection's mission to provide the public with information and analyses as well as an opportunity for rational discussion.

The programme is aired every Thursday evening on TVB Pearl at 18:55.

20 Years On (1) - In Exile

The 4th of June 1989 is not a date to be forgotten. Indeed, it has not been forgotten. But how is the day remembered? Was it a massacre that happened at Tiananmen Square in Beijing? Was it just an incident? Did thousands of people, most of them students asking for reform and democracy, die as victims? Or were they, as the powers that be first insisted, rioters?

In this the first episode of ‘ 20 Years On ’ , we meet some of the student leaders back then and intellectuals who lent them support. They are still ‘ In Exile ’ .

Producers: Eric Poon, Danny Sit
