The former US President, Jimmy
Carter, has accused the United
States of committing human
rights abuses by withholding
food aid from North Korea.
Mr Carter has just finished a
two-day visit to North Korea.
He said the North Korean
leader Kim Jong-Il had
expressed the wish to meet the
South Korean President, Lee
Myung-bak.
Efforts to improve
inter-Korean relations have
been deadlocked, with the
North refusing to accept blame
for two deadly border incidents last year.
