The Vicar-General of the
Catholic Diocese, Father
Michael Yeung, has called commercial surrogacy 'unethical'. Father Yeung said the law should be used in Hong Kong to stop such methods of having children.
His comments come after it was revealed that Peter Lee - the son of Henderson Land chairman Lee Shau-kee - is being investigated by the police after fathering triplets through surrogacy - reportedly by a woman in the United States. The Health Secretary, York Chow, told
Legco yesterday that the case
had been referred to the
police because commercial
surrogacy is illegal in Hong
Kong, even if it is carried
out elsewhere.
