Protest by Tibetan students in Qinghai

21-10-2010

A London-based rights group, Free Tibet, says about 9,000 students from six Tibetan schools have demonstrated in Qinghai province. The protests follow education reforms requiring all subjects to be taught in Putonghua and textbooks to be in Chinese, except for Tibetan-language and English classes. The students reportedly called for their culture to be respected.
