Govt to downgrade swine flu alert level

11-05-2010

The Government says it will downgrade its swine flu alert level from the highest, to the lowest level later this month. The alert has been set at the highest 'emergency' response level since last May.

But the Under-secretary for Health, Gabriel Leung, said this will be changed to an 'alert' level -- which is the lowest in the Government's three-tiered alert system -- on May the 24th.

He said authorities will only reconsider the move if the World Health Organisation makes a special announcement on the flu pandemic at its meeting next Monday.
