Legislators are debating a bill aimed at making it easier for developers to take over old buildings. Under the draft law, compulsory sales will be triggered if 80-percent of owners agree to sell - down from the current 90-percent.

Six legislators are proposing changes to the bill. However, the Development Secretary, Carrie Lam, rejected the amendments, including one stating that owners should be given a flat of comparable size in a new development.
