UN slams Iranian human rights violations

A committee of the UN General Assembly has voted to approve a resolution condemning what it calls serious, ongoing and recurring human rights violations in Iran. The resolution urges Teheran to end its persecution of political opponents and release those imprisoned for their political views. Iran's ambassador to the UN said the resolution was politically motivated. It must now be voted on by the full Assembly.
