A Communist Party boss and a
law enforcement chief in Hubei
province have reportedly been
sacked for mishandling violent
protests in Shishou last
month. The unrest followed the
death of a 24-year-old chef at
a hotel. The police said he
committed suicide, but people
heard rumours his boss had
killed him. Xinhua says Zhong
Ming, the city's party
secretary, and Tang Dunwu, who
was in charge of law
enforcement, didn't act until
after about 80 hours of
silence. It's claimed that
fuelled the rumours and led to
the riot which involved around a thousand people.
