Orient shares surge 52%

Shares in Orient Overseas have surged 52 percent, following a dramatic slump in last-minute trading yesterday. The company shares today closed at just under HK$35. The shares lost one-third of its value yesterday, pushed down by a single transaction 45 seconds before the market closed. The company - controlled by the family of former Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa - is the biggest container liner in Hong Kong.
