The Chief Executive, Donald Tsang, has urged people to show compassion when considering the plan to open a drug rehabilitation centre in Mui Wo on Lantau Island. He was speaking after angry protests by residents during a heated meeting yesterday to discuss the proposal. Speaking at the Foreign Correspondents Club, Mr Tsang noted that emotions were running high over the issue, but he pleaded with villagers to help youngsters to overcome their drug addictions. Local people want the government to build a school on the site instead of relocating the Christian Zheng Sheng College there.
