| Chances of a UN Security
Council resolution on a Gaza
ceasefire have receded after
new disagreements emerged in
New York. Key Arab states and
Western powers had apparently
agreed on a draft resolution
calling for an immediate
ceasefire in Gaza. But the
talks now appear to have run
into real difficulties.
Earlier, a UN agency halted
aid operations in Gaza citing
danger to its workers from
Israeli attacks. This came
after one person was killed
and two hurt when a fork-lift
truck on a UN aid mission came
under Israeli tank fire at Gaza's
Erez crossing. |
