Sturgeons to be sent back to Mainland

07-01-2009

The Chairman of Ocean Park, Alan Zeman, spoke to Wendy Wong.
Ocean Park says it'll send two sick sturgeons back to the Mainland because they can't adapt to the sea water environment being used in the park. The fish - considered as rare as the panda - were among nine that were given to Hong Kong as gifts to mark the Beijing Olympics. One died after it was attacked by a barracuda. Another died after suffering an infection. The two sick sturgeons will be sent to a site in Xiamen where they will be kept in a fresh water tank. The park's Chairman, Allan Zeman, said the other sturgeons in the park are in good condition.
