The Nobel prize for economics has been awarded to the American, Paul Krugman. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said Mr Krugman had been honoured for his work on the effects of free trade and globalisation. A professor at Princeton University and a columnist for the new York Times, Mr Krugman has long been a strong critic of the Bush adminstration, and has argued that its policies have led to the current financial crisis. |
