A former Shenzhen mayor has
been sacked from the Communist
Party Central Committee, amid
reports he was involved in
corruption. Xinhua News Agency
reports that Yu Youjun was
dismissed at the end of the
committee's annual meeting in
Beijing, and was given a
two-year probationary period
on his membership in the
ruling party. His ranking as
the top party official in the
Ministry of Culture was
deleted from the ministry's
website last week, indicating
that Mr Yu has been sacked
from that post as well. Press reports say his sacking was
linked to corruption
uncovered during his tenure as
the mayor of Shenzhen from
2000 to 2003. |
