Power deal with mainland.
Hong Kong and the mainland have signed an agreement for the supply of natural gas and nuclear electricity to the SAR over the coming 20 years. The deal also involves the construction of a liquefied natural gas terminal near Shenzhen. The government says this will reduce the need for CLP Power to build a terminal on the Soko Islands - and the need for the company to increase tariffs. The Environment Secretary, Edward Yau, said the agreement would ensure the stability of supplies, and help to boost the natural gas component in the territory's power mix.
