China Telecom profit down 4%

28-08-2008

The interim profit of the mainland's biggest fixed line company, China Telecom, has fallen four percent to 11.6 billion yuan. It blames the fall on the cutting of prices by other wireless carriers - including China Mobile. It says it plans to spend 16 billion yuan on acquisitions this year, so it can enter the mobile-phone market under a government mandated revamp of the industry.
