| The Deputy Chairman of Legco's
Food Safety and Environmental
Hygiene Panel, Fred Li, says
the government's compensation
package for live poultry
retailers to quit the industry
is likely be scrapped. The
government has said that 85%
of all poultry retailers will
have to surrender their
licences, in order for the
ex-gratia payment scheme to go
ahead. But only 72% of
retailers have so far accepted
the offer.
