Poultry compensation may 'be scrapped'

The Deputy Chairman of Legco's Food Safety and Environmental Hygiene Panel, Fred Li, says the government's compensation package for live poultry retailers to quit the industry is likely be scrapped. The government has said that 85% of all poultry retailers will have to surrender their licences, in order for the ex-gratia payment scheme to go ahead. But only 72% of retailers have so far accepted the offer.
