Indonesians protest against rising food prices

Thousands of demonstrators have protested in the major cities of Indonesia against rising food costs and government plans to raise subsidised fuel prices. Riot police surrounded the presidential palace in Jakarta. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said orderly protests were normal in a democratic country, and acknowledged that political reforms needed to continue.
