Woman rescued from quake rubble after 195 hours

A woman who survived on rainwater has been pulled from the rubble of the Sichuan earthquake, a miraculous eight days after the disaster. Xinhua news agency said the woman in her 60s had spent 195 hours in the rubble in the city of Pengzhou. She was reported to be conscious when rescuers found her. The official death toll in the quake has now risen to more than 40-thousand. The state council released the figure in a statement, which also said the number of injured was just over 247-thousand. The number of homeless was put at more than five-million.
