The massive relief effort
underway in south western
China has brought a marked
improvement in circumstances
for many left homeless by
Monday's earthquake. But with
official estimates putting the
number of homeless across the
affected region at some five
million, many more are still
lacking basic supplies. Early this morning, a powerful
aftershock, measuring 6.1 on
the Richter Scale, shook
Sichuan province, and officials are warning that
heavy rainfall could further
hamper relief efforts. There's
also a threat of flooding.
