Quake rescue efforts resume after flood fears

Rescue efforts in the Chinese town of Beichuan-the worst hit by the Sichuan earthquake- are resuming after a temporary halt because of flooding fears. Rescue workers have been returning hours after a warning that a blocked river was about to burst its banks. The warning caused surviving residents and rescuers to scramble for higher ground. Elsewhere, some people are still being pulled alive from the rubble, five days after the quake. Nearly 29-thousand people are now known to have died-but the final figure is expected to top 50,000.
