French UN ambassador hits out at Burma

The French ambassador to the United Nations, Jean-Maurice Ripert, has accused the Burmese military government of being on the verge of committing a crime against humanity, by not allowing international aid to reach the victims of Cyclone Nargis. Mr Ripert made the comments after the Burmese ambassador to the UN, Kyaw Tint Swe, accused France of sending a warship to region. France says the ship, destined for the Irrawaddy Delta, is carrying fifteen-hundred tonnes of food and medicine.
