Civil servants could be in for
a pay rise of between 3.9 and
6.3 percent this year. This
emerged after the government
released the results of a
survey of 97 private sector
companies. The figures will be
put to a pay trend survey
committee next week. A period
of negotiation will then take
place with staff unions. The
vice-president of the Chinese
Civil Servants Association,
Lee Kwai-yin, called on the
government to ensure that
lower-paid workers receive a
relatively higher pay rise. ¡õ
