First US relief aid flight heads for Burma

The first American aid flight to Burma following the devastating cyclone nine days ago has taken off from neighbouring Thailand. US officials said the giant C-One-Thirty military transport was carrying water purification systems and supplies to ward off diseases. Meanwhile, a European Union official, Heinke Veit, said there were encouraging signs that more relief goods and aid agency teams were arriving in the main city Rangoon. ¡õ
