The chairman of the Hospital
Authority, Anthony Wu, says
new measures will be in place
in a week's time to tighten up
the protection of patients'
data. This came after
hospitals lost several USB
memory devices, containing the
records of thousands of
patients. Hospital staff are
now required to obtain
approval from the chief
executive of their hospital if
they wish to take such USB
devices home. Patients' data
downloaded from Hospital
Authority computers will also
be encrypted.
