The government says it has no
plans to ban the use of trans
fats in food products. This
came after lawmakers expressed
concern that the substance
increases the risk of
cardiovascular disease. New
York City has already imposed
a ban on trans fats in all
restaurants. Speaking through
an intrepreter, the Health
Secretary, York Chow, said it
was difficult to implement a
ban, but the government would
introduce a nutritional
labelling scheme in future.
