Legislator Leung Kwok-hung and
four other activists have won
an appeal against their
conviction for obstructing
traffic during a protest
against toll increases at the
Eastern Harbour Tunnel nearly
two years ago. In allowing the
appeal, High Court judge Mr
Justice Nguyen pointed out
that the tunnel company and
the police had tolerated the
demonstration before the five
were arrested. Mr Leung and
two others were earlier
sentenced to 12 days'
imprisonment by a magistrate.
Two others in the case were
also given a similar sentence but it was suspended for one
year.
