Production Assistant (Part-time) (Chinese News and Current Affairs Unit, Radio Division)
(Salary : $80 per hour)

Entry Requirements: (a) Undergraduate of Journalism, Media Studies, or Politics, etc studying in local universities; or(b)(i) Grade E or above in 5 subjects, including Level 2 in Chinese Language & English Language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, or equivalent [see Notes (1)], and with (ii) 3 years relevant experience in broadcasting or media work.

(Note: (1) “Grade E” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 2” in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE. (2) Normal working hours: 05:30 – 08:30 and/or 12:15 – 13:15 on Monday to Saturday; may require to work irregular hours including midnight. (3) Candidates may be required to sit for a trade test.)

Duties: To provide technical and general production support for radio programmes – “Hong Kong Today” and/or “A Bucket of Gold”, such as handling phone-in calls, newspaper cutting, photocopying and data collecting etc.

Terms of Appointment & Fringe Benefits: Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for not more than one year.

Senior Reporter (English News and Current Affairs Section – Radio Division)
(Salary : $38,265 - $43,905 per month, depending on experience)

Entry Requirements: Candidates should have (a) (i) a Hong Kong degree or equivalent; and at least 6 years’ experience in broadcasting or journalism with sufficiently good exposure in coverage of Hong Kong and China stories; or (ii) at least 12 years’ relevant experience; (b) Level 2 in English Language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE); or equivalent [See Note (1)]; (c) excellent command of written and spoken English; (d) good broadcasting voice; (e) sound knowledge of public and current affairs; and (f) knowledge of Cantonese and / or Putonghua is an advantage.

(Notes: (1) ‘Grade E’ in English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in English Language in the 2007 HKCEE; and (2) Candidates may be required to sit for a trade test and / or voice test.)

Duties: Responsible for performing various duties including reporting major stories in Hong Kong, mainland China and Taiwan, with an emphasis on political news; compiling and reading news bulletins and summaries; sub-editing; supervising and training staff; performing general planning duties; and ensuring the content of news bulletins and news-related programmes is accurate, balanced and of good standard. (Note : May be required to work irregular hours / over-night shifts / weekends)

Terms of Appointment & Fringe Benefits: Successful candidates will be appointed on one-year-non-civil service contract terms. If the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct, the officer may be granted a gratuity which, when added together with the Government’s contribution to MPF scheme, equals 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Rest days, general holidays, annual leave, maternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted on terms not less favourable than the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.

Multimedia Journalist (Chinese newsroom)
(Salary : $13,215 per month)

Entry Requirements: (a) (i) a Hong Kong degree in Journalism and Communications, Social Science, Languages, or equivalent; or (ii) a Diploma in Communication or Journalism from a registered post-secondary college issued after the date of its registration, or equivalent, and at least 2 years’ experience in broadcasting or news gathering; (b) Level 2 in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE); or equivalent [See the Note]; (c) fluency in Putonghua; (d) good broadcasting voice; (e) be computer literate and good at Chinese word-processing; and (f) sound knowledge of current affairs. (Note: “Grade E” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 2” in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE)

(Note: Remark: Candidates will be required to sit for a voice test and a Chinese typing test.)

Duties: To report local and breaking news, take video and photos for the web, translate and rewrite wired news; produce news reports and news-related specials to meet the needs of various platforms; including radio, television, mobile phones and news web sites; present in news bulletins and news-related programmes. (Note : The post-holder is required to work irregular hours and overnight shift.)
