As the public broadcaster of Hong Kong, RTHK considers that there are certain events of special importance to the Special Administrative Region which warrant full or extended coverage. These events include :

• The Chief Executive's policy address.
• Budget speech.
• The CE's radio/television messages, e.g. during the Lunar New Year.
• Major debates and sessions of the Legislative Council.
• Elections of the legislature and district organisations.
• Major celebratory events of the SAR.
• Ceremonial functions of major projects or activities.
